3 Characteristics the most successful clients possess: Eleanor's Story

“Speaking is my life.”

That was the first thing Eleanor said on our call to determine next steps to initiate work together.
 
Eleanor had 3 characteristics that most of my highly successful clients have. 

She recognized that her voice is an asset to her business.

She said ‘I want longevity.’
 
Her company was in a growth phase, and she knew that increasing her visibility, in-person and virtually, was necessary. She has been a strategic business consultant for years, and helps women scale to $1M in revenue.  She has led events, multiple B2B deals and her growing team.  She is a powerhouse.  Yet she revealed that she feels ‘nervous in front of a new group, and starts to feel out of breath’ when speaking, especially when a room was filled with serious decision makers.  She compensated by pushing her voice, even when tired, and by the end of a day, her voice felt scratchy and dry.
 
She has background experience as a radio reporter, describing her voice as  ‘deeper [pitch], more authoritative, yet still a high push level.’   However, that style of voicing was costing her in this season of her business.  She was trying to speak from an outdated identity and her voice was revealing the mismatch.  
 
Eleanor was the type of person who brought fierce, no-BS focus and follow through in her decisions, along with lightness and laughter, which is what made her so successful, as she was never someone who held herself back from going for what was needed to grow her business. She had always been willing to put in the work yet she was tired of feeling that everything she was putting into her visibility wasn’t carrying her to the levels she had hoped. 
 
By choosing to prioritize her speaking voice quality, presence and longevity, she was willing to do the things necessary to embody the voice of who she was becoming, not who she had been.
 
Through breath-work, meditation, and body-awareness exercises, she recognized how she could shift her state of being through voice alignment and its power to replenish her. She had been feeling tired, like she always had to be ‘doing’ or be ‘on’, yet the more she leaned into her voice supporting her mind-body connection, she felt rejuvenated with less pressure on herself, exclaiming “I need this!” The positive impact on her leadership was evident - her outer expression went from scratchy to clear, nervous to grounded, draining to energizing.
